Jennifer Wong

Instructor, engineering education

After earning her master’s degree in biomedical engineering, Jennifer Wong is returning to her alma mater as an instructor for Academic and Student Affairs in the Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering at Arizona State University.

Wong’s passion for engineering is rivaled by her interest in how engineers learn. She is excited also to take on the role of Director of the Fulton Accelerated Community engagement program, which allows her to work directly with future engineers on their academic journeys.

Throughout her time as a student at ASU, Wong was heavily involved in research regarding the degenerative impact of traumatic brain injury. Her deep-seated fascination with the diverse facets of biomedical engineering stems from the field’s capacity to approach challenges holistically and her interest in interdisciplinary problem-solving.

Wong supported the ASU engineering community through roles as an intern for the Fulton Schools Student Success and Engagement team, residential peer mentor, lead at the first-year student experience E2, Barrett Summer Scholars program instructor and undergraduate teaching assistant.

“I am excited about the direction ASU is taking engineering education and want to be part of shaping our future engineers,” Wong says.

She will teach FSE 100 Introduction to Engineering, BME 362 Methods in Molecular and Cellular Biology, and ASU 101 BME The ASU Experience. Wong encourages students to review class materials beforehand so class time can be spent efficiently answering questions and solidifying knowledge pertinent to course topics.

Wong’s dedication to student engagement and growth is a cornerstone of her role as she seeks to foster the development of emerging engineers.

Her involvement in the Fulton Schools community has garnered recognition through multiple accolades, including being named a Fulton Schools Outstanding Graduate in 2022 and a Fulton Schools Impact Award winner and Outstanding Graduate in 2023.

Beyond her engineering endeavors, Jennifer enjoys trying new restaurants and exploring the great outdoors, often embarking on invigorating hikes with friends.
