Having recently graduated from Arizona State University’s information technology program, Edmund Lorenzen has first-hand experience with the program and its curriculum.
As one of his first responsibilities as a new faculty member, Lorenzen is looking forward to updating and implementing curriculum changes.
“I enjoyed my academic journey in the IT program at ASU,” he says, “and I’m thrilled to start my career at the same place I started my education.”
While earning his master’s degree at ASU, Lorenzen worked as a graduate student assistant and facilities assistant in the IT department. As part of his job duties, he revamped the security analysis course to make it more interactive.
“Students walked away from this class knowing how many attacks on systems are conducted from the perspective of the attacker,” Lorenzen says.
This fall, Lorenzen will teach operating systems architecture, managing configurations and active directory, and security analysis.
“I love turning the lesson into an experience so my students understand what the material means in a real-world context,” Lorenzen says.
When he isn’t teaching, Lorenzen enjoys tinkering with computer hardware, keeping up with the newest technologies, implementing automation in his own home and playing video games.
