How is climate change impacting Arizona’s water resources?

Access to water is among things certain to shape the future of Arizona, and the impacts of climate change are certain to determine the state’s water situation. Enrique Vivoni, a Fulton Schools professor of hydrosystems and his team at ASU have been working with the Arizona’s water managers to find solutions for protecting the state’s watershed — including groundwater, aquifers and surface water, all of which are under stress to keep up with demand. The challenge is to come up with ways to manage water use wisely while still providing for the various water needs of agriculture, businesses, communities and individuals as a long drought period continues.
