Elon Musk’s Neuralink Aims to Implant 10 Times More Brain Chips in 2025
Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk plans to ramp up growth of his neurotechnology startup, Neuralink, which uses a robot to implant a brain-computer interface into human brains. The company has also developed a device that embeds threads containing electrodes into the brain, which could enable paralyzed people to engage with digital devices through their thoughts. Bradley Greger, an associate professor in the School Biological and Health Systems Engineering, part of the Futon Schools, says similar devised have typical failed within a few years. But he sees encouraging signs that Neuralink’s version might work. He also sees a possibility of Neuralink’s Blindsight device making a breakthrough in enabling blind people to experience some semblance of useful sight.
