Clubs, concerts and connections: ASU Welcome is here!

Welcome new and returning Sun Devils to the 2025–26 academic year in the Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering at Arizona State University!
Before classes officially begin on Aug. 21, 2025, there are a host of college-specific and signature events that offer opportunities to connect with peers, boost school spirit and get involved on campus. This is the time to see what ASU and the Fulton Schools have for you to get involved in during your time here.
Get connected
There is something for everyone to be a part of at ASU, and a great way to get involved is by joining a club.
Student organizations are a vital part of the ASU and Fulton Schools communities, offering opportunities for leadership development, school spirit, public service, education and social and cultural engagement.
As a student, you have the chance to get connected to hundreds of registered clubs at any one of the fall student organization involvement fairs that happen during ASU Welcome. There are events on every campus, such as Club Hub on the Polytechnic campus and West Fest on the West Valley campus. The Tempe campus hosts multiple involvement fairs that are categorized by different themes to help you choose what matches your interests.
In addition, the Fulton Schools is hosting its signature student organization and resource fair Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2025, at Mullett Arena on the Tempe campus, featuring over 60 Fulton Schools student organizations.
Finding something that you want to be a part of outside the classroom adds valuable experience that builds on the work you do academically. Many of the ASU engineering clubs are student chapters of prominent industry professional societies, enabling you to learn about careers in your field when you participate as a member.
“Fulton student organizations are unique to all other ASU organizations,” says Alina McNeil, a coordinator for student success and engagement in the Fulton Schools. “They bring an extra edge of competitiveness to your resume and help students create long-lasting friendships and memories. Our organizations offer amazing opportunities, whether it’s getting the chance to attend a national conference with friends, building cars or rockets from scratch, or getting the next generation of students excited about their engineering futures.”
Visit Sun Devil Central to get a head start on locating student organizations you may want to join at the involvement fairs offered during ASU Welcome. Sun Devil Central also serves as a great resource to find organizations and events throughout the year.
Engineers assemble
Start the school year with other Fulton Schools first-year students! At your school undergraduate assembly, you’ll meet new students, faculty and staff in your major. Get to know other first-year students who will be in your classes, learn about the exciting research opportunities in your major, and make connections with the faculty and advisors in your school. Attendance at school assemblies is required for all first-year students and is strongly recommended for transfer students.
Newly admitted master’s and doctoral students in the Fulton Schools are also encouraged to attend their respective graduate school assemblies to kick off the new academic year.
Time-honored traditions
Every fall, both Sun Devil Welcome and InfernoFest kick off the new academic year. Sun Devil Welcome is for first-year students and starts with an event hosted by the school of your degree program. Next up, all new students will meet at Mountain America Stadium for Sun Devil Welcome. Experience Sun Devil spirit, pride and tradition at its finest during this high-energy event. The night concludes with InfernoFest, where students gather for a free live concert. Both events are offered via livestream for our ASU Online students to enjoy.

Echo from the Buttes is a decades-old celebration signaling the beginning of the academic year for all new Sun Devils beginning their journeys. On Saturday, Aug. 23, 2025, students will hike up “A” mountain and use their hands to refresh ASU’s iconic gold “A” with a fresh coat of white paint. As one of the university’s longest-standing traditions, this signature event is a great opportunity to connect with other students and leave your mark on campus.
Polypalooza is a signature event on the Polytechnic campus where all ASU students are welcome to enjoy a fun carnival atmosphere to kick off the semester. Be sure to stop by and enjoy carnival games, prizes, food and more! It’s a great way to get to know your fellow Sun Devils who take classes and live on the Polytechnic campus.

New Sun Devils based on the West Valley campus should not miss this great opportunity.
Starting a new adventure is both exciting and a little scary. All these events are here to help enhance your educational experience and help you transition into your new life in college. Get involved, and enjoy your time as a Fulton Schools Sun Devil!
