Tiny Satellite, Big Discoveries, From Campus To Cosmos
Ysabella McAuliffe, a Fulton Schools student studying aerospace engineering who works in ASU’s Interplanetary Lab is among contributors to a satellite project designed to learn more about ultraviolet light from distant stars as part of a larger endeavor to assess possibilities for the habitability of exoplanets. Balancing her coursework with a multimillion-dollar space project, McCauliffe says the endeavor has been especially rewarding because of opportunities to work closely with other engineers as the spacecraft went through the process of being assembled and tested to produce a final product that is scheduled to launch aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rideshare mission sometime in the next year.
