How Small Fibers Can Make Concrete Stronger

Much of the billions of tons of concrete used each year in construction projects around the world could be made more durable by an advanced fiber-reinforced concrete, says Fulton Schools Professor Barzin Mobasher. He is leading research to develop high-performance synthetic, glass, polymeric and nylon fibers that could not only increase the resilience of buildings, roads and infrastructure but also could speed up construction projects and save costs over time by making concrete structures and facilities less prone to corrosion and cracking.
