How Phoenix is retraining workers for the next-gen economy
Arizona’s higher education leaders are responding to new employers in the state by focusing on offering students’ rapid skill development opportunities to meet the demands of the advanced manufacturing industry. Such training courses and degree programs are catering to the needs of high-tech companies that are hiring new graduates in a job market being transformed by automation and AI advances that require new skills. Hongbin Yu, a professor at the School of Electrical, Computer and Energy Engineering and director of the Center for Efficient Vehicles and Sustainable Transportation Systems, says ASU’s training is helping students secure jobs with Lucid, Tesla and Lidar technology companies.
