How Phoenix has evolved into a region ripe for innovation

The Phoenix area is seeing a major expansion of semiconductor industry facilities bringing many new jobs, while more Arizona companies have made the Deloitte business services company’s North America Technology Fast 500 list and industry leaders continue to see growing opportunities in the state. To meet the demand for new employees, schools and universities are expanding engineering programs. Professor Binil Starly, director of the School of Manufacturing Systems and Networks, part of the Fulton Schools, notes plans to build the Interdisciplinary Science and Technology 12 building, a $185-million addition to ASU’s Polytechnic campus, and new academic programs to train the next generation of engineers to boost Arizona’s workforce.
