Can AI help Arizonans find the shadiest route to keep cool? This ASU professor thinks so
How to stay cool in the summer? Learn to use the advancing capabilities of artificial intelligence, or AI, technology. That’s the advice from Hua Wei, an assistant professor in the School of Computing and Augmented Intelligence, part of the Fulton Schools. On the Nation Public Radio outlet KJZZ’s “The Show” and its “Throwing Shade” series, Wei goes into detail about the ways people can strategize to protect themselves from long, uncomfortable and potential damaging exposure to extreme heat from the sun. AI is being used to construct 3D simulations of specific environments as a guide to effectively avoiding outdoor hot spots and generating shade.
