ASU researchers create self-sufficient, movable health care clinic

A 40-foot-long mobile medical clinic equipped to be self-sufficient in remote, off-the-grid areas should be serving people in the African country of Uganda later this year — thanks to ASU engineering researchers. The clinic in a shipping container comes with solar power and water purification systems, battery storage and a backup electrical power generator. The Office of Naval Research is funding the project that can be a model for future mobile health care units for disaster relief and humanitarian missions, says Fulton Schools engineering graduate research assistant Cody Van Cleve.
