ASU medical school gains accreditation — and a new name
The emergency medicine physician and health entrepreneur for whom ASU’s new John Shufeldt School of Medicine and Medical Engineering has been named prepared for his career in part by completing the Six Sigma Black Belt Training for Industry Professionals offered through the Fulton Schools Global Outreach and Extended Education program. The founder of the NextCare urgent care company, which has 60 facilities, Shufeldt has also founded other health care ventures. Along with its with primary clinical affiliate HonorHealth, the new ASU school will train students to blend studies in various disciplines, primarily medicine, engineering, technology and humanities, to prepare future health care leaders to be innovators and problem-solvers.
