ASU leaders meet to advance partnerships with top Taiwanese universities

Earlier this year, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) invested $40 billion in two chip manufacturing centers in Phoenix. ASU has emerged as a key partner in developing the skilled workforce required for the growing semiconductor industry. ASU leaders recently met with representatives from Taiwan’s Ministry of Education, U.S. Departments of State and Commerce, and Taiwanese universities to discuss semiconductor education, support for related industries, and workforce development. Kyle Squires, the dean of the Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering at ASU, is optimistic about the opportunities for collaboration with Taiwan and other U.S. institutions that would enhance Arizona’s position as a tech innovation hub.
