Fulton Schools: In the News

Arizona led the nation in CHIPS Act investments under Biden

Arizona led the nation in CHIPS Act investments under Biden

Fulton Schools Dean Kyle Squires says many years of extensive planning, increased student enrollment at ASU and more research funding for the university — specifically funding for research to advance semiconductors and related technologies — have been among the results of a major alignment of efforts by ASU, the business community and government representatives over recent years. One significant result is that Arizona has drawn more federal funding during that time than any other state to help drive technological progress. Squires also notes that ASU has the nation’s leading number of engineering students, many of whom will be needed by the semiconductor industry, as well as many engineering faculty members doing top-notch research in the field.

The report notes the Fulton Schools’ enrollment of about 33,000 engineering students and 600 faculty members, plus its partnerships with other education institutions and researchers, as a major reason Arizona landed the new semiconductor packaging research laboratory.
