32% tandem cell solar still competitive at triple the price

Fulton Schools researchers are contributing to the evolution of solar energy technology. Assistant Professor Zachary Holman, Assistant Research Professor Zhengshan Yu and graduate student Joe V. Carpenter collaborated to develop a perovskite-silicon tandem solar cell that boosts electrical power production efficiency over other solar cells. Equally as important, the new cells can be economically competitive in the energy marketplace. The technology is explained in a report authored by Holman, Yu and Carpenter in the research journal Nature Energy.
