Michele Gauger – Outstanding Graduate

Michele Gauger
B.S. in Environmental and Resource Management
Graduated from Thatcher High School
Originally from Thatcher/Safford, Arizona.

Michele Gauger was on the Dean’s List each semester at ASU, and she will be graduating summa cum laude. She is currently in the  4+1 Accelerated Program which allows high-achieving students to earn a bachelor’s and master’s degree in five years.

Why did you choose ASU?

Initially, I chose it because it offers the environmental programs I was looking for. The bonus for me was that I live nearby the Polytechnic campus.

Describe a memorable moment at ASU.

I knew the Environmental and Resource Management (ERM) program was right for me when I started, I just didn’t anticipate all of the chemistry. The best ah-ha moment for me was toward the end of my senior year when all of the information I had been learning started to pull together for me, and I began to see the bigger picture.

Can you name a professor that was instrumental in helping you grow?

It is difficult for me to pick just one. I credit each professor with helping me grow as a student equally.

What are your plans after graduation?

Just this week I accepted a position with an environmental consulting firm, which happens to be owned by an ASU ERM graduate. I will also be continuing on to obtain my M.S. in ERM.
